Refill station / Volunteer job portal
The challenge
1, Plastic waste and packaging Even though the Netherlands is quite developed in terms of selective waste collection, it would still be better not to produce so much waste than using additional resources to recycle them. As a household it is almost inevitable to produce hundreds of kgs of plastic waste per year, given the many prepackaged salads, hams, cheeses, shower gels, shampoos, detergent, etc. 2, Humanitarian aid The current ukranian crisis highlighted the fact, that many people want to help but most of them do not know how, or do not have money, but have skills they would be happy to offer, but it is hard to find the platform to do that.
The solution
1, Plastic waste and packaging I believe the solution would be to make suppliers and supermarkets engaged in the cause and establish refill stations for the aforementioned products rather than (or maybe besides) accustoming customers to shop in other (package-free) stores. I imagine this like a coffee refill station, where you can go with your own packaging and refill your favourite soaps, detergent etc. 2, Humanitarian aid I picture a volunteer job-seeking platform (f. ex. like monster.com) where humanitarian workers, organizations or even refugees could upload their needs and people who would like to help could browse and take on these tasks, from small to large (f. ex. delivering suitcases between cities, translating texts or offering accomodation for refugees). This could maybe help internatinal humanitarian organizations to coordinate their activities. For funding we could target multinational companies willing to (or wanting to) aid their employees in need and they could benefit from the marketing and business continuity (f. ex. their refugee employee can continue working for them if they can organize accomodation for them through our platform).
