The challenge

Addressing the fast fashion industry; a lot of clothes nowadays are made very quickly and sold for a very low price to customers who don't always take into account how the clothes have been made or the workers behind the manufacturing of the clothes. The fast fashion industry has a huge impact on the environment as it uses a lot of water, leads to pollution and can result in a lot of waste all around the world. By making an online platform (e.g. could be an app) where people can request a piece of clothing that they need at a certain moment, they can see who is in their surrounding area that can offer it for that specific time so they don't have to buy it themselves anymore. Instead, they can borrow it for a small fee.

The solution

Spreading more awareness and preventing people from buying unneccessary pieces of clothing. Especially amongst students and teenagers who cannot afford sustainable clothing, many clothing companies offer cheap clothes to students, and not many people always take into consideration the sources and consequences of the clothes that they buy. Hopefully with the online platform where people can easily 'order' their piece of clothing as desired, it will incentivise people to borrow more clothing from others instead of simply buying new clothes that they are not going to wear in the future.
