The challenge
At this very moment, online shopping is become impersonal compared to shopping at a physical store. If you would be returning a product which is (a bit) damaged over here, they would not return you the money because the product is damaged. A lot online shops in retail and fashion industry take these costs of damaged products for granted and decide to return customers' money, to avoid receiving (unjustly) bad reviews about their service. Returny will return responsibility for your returned goods to online shops. To avoid beautiful fashion items from getting thrown away, 'free' shipping costs being needless and all the efforts in producing and transporting the goods being redundant.
The solution
The solution for this problem is an independent intermediary focussed on using return shipment data to improve customers' behavior. Returny will host an independent and secured database where it collects the quality of customers' returned products. The shops themself will not get access to this data. For example: totally damaged, dirty spots on it, smelling, no label attached anymore, wrinkled etc. But we also collect if there is nothing wrong with the returned products at all. (68% of the return shipments are without any problem in The Netherlands) If you are ordering at an online shop, in the payment process you will be able to click on a 'Returny' button and a little window will open. By logging in, scanning a QR code or by veryifing with your phone number and SMS code, your anonymized Returny-code will be retrieved and used by the webshop. The Returny-code is based on a set of data from your previous return shipments which result in final rating (f.e: 1 to 5 stars). A webshop can decide to be socially and environmentally focussed, and makes sure that customers can only receive free shipping and/or returns by using Returny. "If you are ordering and you have a spotless reputation, you will receive these appreciated benefits. But, if you have a bad reputation, it could result in having to pay for the return shipment yourself. Due to the fact that you don't take care for the products responsibly" By implementing Returny in a broad range of small and medium sized webshops, user profiles will be enriched. You will be more likely to keep and use your benefits on a lot of webshops you like to order at. And webshops can address these benefits more efficiently. On the background, the return process will have to be monitored carefully to maintain a trustworthy relationship between Returny and the customer. A mutual rating after every return shipment will be implemented to ensure a sustainable customer relationship.
