The challenge

When you turn 18, you have to take care of a lot of things yourself e.g. insurance, financial obligations, student loans and enrolling in a study programme. But are the youngsters accompanied the right way along this journey? The answer is no! The government/schools don't do enough to prepare young people for adulthood. With the help of a field study that includes 100+ answers of people with the age of 16 years to 25 years, we concluded the following: The youngsters experience the information the government/schools provide as difficult, incomplete and vague. They want more guidance in the process of becoming an adult.

The solution

We want to help these young people entering adulthood by providing them with the information that fits their needs. The information booklet includes information about insurance, education, housing, finances etc. The information booklet explains step by step how they can approach & arrange these matters. In addition to the booklet, we want to develop a website or application which also provides the youngsters with relevant information that fits their needs. And no, this is not another project which is only for the ‘regular’ young people. We want to make this plan as inclusive as possible so that people with a mental illness, refugees, people that speak another language and many more people with special needs can use the booklet as well! (For parents the booklet is also a very useful tool to guide their children in the process of becoming an adult). We believe a good start of adulthood is already 50% of the job!
